A point of interest, or POI, marks a position for inspection and can include a label, notes, and supporting image or video evidence. Use it when a reviewer needs context attached to a location in the viewer. POIs are stored inspection data; their creation and editing depend on your permissions.

The POI panel appears in supported video viewing contexts. A read-only share is intended for review and does not allow you to change the file's inspection records.

Prepare the point and supporting media

Confirm the workspace, project, and facility. Open Video and move to the feature you want to identify. Give the point a label that another reviewer will understand without needing to ask which feature you meant.

Supporting media is optional. You can attach an image or video, or use Choose Existing to link a saved screenshot from the file. Choose Existing is a screenshot picker; it does not select an existing video or panorama. Check that any evidence you attach belongs with the feature and is appropriate for its audience.

Create a POI

  1. Open Video, then Tools > POIs.
  2. Choose Place Pin.
  3. Select the intended position in the viewer. Inspect the placement before saving.
  4. Choose the Video or Pano context offered by the form.
  5. Enter a Label and optional Notes. Explain the point's purpose.
  6. Optionally attach an image or video. Alternatively, use Choose Existing to select a saved screenshot associated with the file.
  7. Choose Save POI and confirm that the point appears.

Placing a pin alone is not the same as saving it. Wait for the save result before switching facilities or closing the viewer.

Review the saved point

Open the saved point and verify its label, position, notes, and linked media. Check that any attached media or linked screenshot opens as expected. If it does not, review whether the media is available to the current viewing context rather than assuming the pin itself is missing.

Use the edit or delete controls only when offered to your account. Before removing a point, confirm that it is the intended item and that its context is no longer needed for the inspection.

A POI, screenshot, and measurement serve different purposes. Use a POI to connect media context, a screenshot to preserve an image, and a measurement to store geometry and a value. Link or reference these consistently when documenting the same feature.

When a POI cannot be saved

  • Confirm that a position has been selected and required fields are complete.
  • Check the selected viewing context and any attached evidence.
  • Confirm that the selected media is available for this file.
  • Check whether your current access is read-only or otherwise restricted.
  • Record the visible message and facility before contacting Support.
